Should I Train When My Muscles Are Sore
Lots of people wonder whether they should train when their muscles are sore or not and the quick answer is no you should never do that.
After a good workout your body needs some time to repair the microscopic tears that happen to the muscle fibers. If proper rest weren't allowed then the fibers would never be fully restored before the next workout and so your muscle growth will be hindered.
Training while your muscles are sore is only acceptable when you go for other body parts other than the sore ones. For example if your biceps are sore then there is no problem in going to the gym and training your legs.
Muscles grow when you are at rest
Contrary to common beliefs muscles don't grow inside the gym but they grow when you are taking a rest. Thus the only way to grow is to train hard and to rest and eat very well. If any of these elements weren't taken care of then you would never get the results you are looking for.
Skinny guys need more rest than other people and it's strongly advised that they don't exercise more than 3 times a week. Because skinny guys have super fast metabolic rate they burn food so quickly and this results in mass loss if no adequate rest was provided.
How long does it take for muscles to repair?
Earlier I used to think that the more I train the bigger will I become but I discovered that I was wrong. I discovered that for skinny guys less can be more and that over training is one of the biggest reasons for loss of body mass.
Research has shown that muscles require from 5 to 7 days until they fully repair. This means that even if your muscles were not sore its strongly recommended not to train the same muscle more than once a week especially if you are/were a skinny guy.
